Aston Villa v Manchester United
Verdict: Following their 1-1 draw at Villa Park a little over two weeks ago, these sides meet again on the hallowed turf of Wembley Stadium. Both teams go into this encounter on winning form. Aston Villa defeated Crystal Palace 3-1 in their 5th round FA Cup replay where as The Red Devils brushed West Ham United aside with a 3-0 scoreline. Wayne Rooney again scored a brace and is really on the top of his game at the moment.
Clean sheets have been hard to come by for last year's cup finalists in recent months as their usual, solid back line has been struck by injury. With Ferdinand ruled out today and Vidic only recently returning from a long lay off, I expect more calamitous defending from United. Aston Villa have also dropped off their high standards in terms of keeping clean sheets, conceding in each of their last 4 encounters to the like of Crystal Palace and Burnley.
I sense that we have more attacking players in form here rather than defenders. Rooney, Valencia, Downing, Agbonlahor, and Young have been in sparkling form in recent weeks and I expect them to get some joy against not so water tight defending.
