English Premier League Round 13 (15/11 - 16/11)

EPL quick picks. Due to time constraints, FULL round analysis will not be available.

Saturday, 15 November

Blackburn v Sunderland

Summary: Blackburn finally ended their 6-game losing streak against the same team they are facing today. A Santa Cruz and Bardsley own goal were good enough for Rovers to record a 2-1 victory at the Stadium of Light in the Carling Cup midweek, giving them a possible psychological edge for this encounter. Sunderland face a baron spell of their own at the moment with 4 straight losses in all competitions and only 2 goals scored in their last 5 away from home.

Verdict: Blackburn will miss striker Benny McCarthy who is suffering a family bereavement while Ooijer returns to stiffen the home team's rear guard. Keeper Craig Gordon and defender George McCartney are both doubtful for the visitors. Blackburn's only defeats at home this season have been to Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal. Now is the perfect opportunity for Rovers to build on their Carling Cup exploits and improve on their Premier League standing.

Pick: Blackburn -0.5
Blackburn 1 - 2 Sunderland

West Ham United v Portsmouth

Verdict: West Ham have not kept a cleansheet at home all season but will attempt to do so here in order to end a 6 game winless streak. Portsmouth just broke a winless streak last week with a 2-1 win away to Sunderland. West Ham will be keen to atone for last week's unfortunate loss to Everton with striker Cole returning from suspension. Portsmouth will be in a more confident mood after finally notching up an away victory since the opening day of the season.

Pick: Over 2.5 goals
West Ham 0 - 0 Portsmouth
