Aston Villa v Blackburn
Team news: Aston Villa - Carew (doubtful) -- Blackburn - Pedersen (IN), Diouf (IN), Dunn (IN)
Verdict: Villa are favourites to move through to the League Cup final following their 1-0 win at Ewood Park a week ago. Aston Villa were deserving winners on that night but their performance on the weekend was some what laboured. Aston Villa were held to a scoreless draw by struggling West Ham United and were probably fortunate to keep a clean sheet. In contrast, Blackburn rode their luck against Fulham and finally broke out of a 9 game winless streak with a 2-0 win.
Despite not having won at Villa Park since 2004, Blackburn will be travelling to The Midlands in a confident frame of mind on the back of their fine 2-0 result on the weekend. In a further boost for the away side, creative sparks in Pedersen, Diouf and Dunn return to the side. As is common knowledge, Aston Villa pose a huge threat on the counter-attack. Blackburn need to roll the dice here so I expect the Villains to get similar opportunities to the one that resulted in a goal for Milner just a week ago.
In closing, I expect goals here. Blackburn have no game on the weekend so they will give their all here against a lethargic looking Aston Villa with their reserve keeper Guzan in goals. In addition, it is worth keeping in mind that Blackburn do have the worst away record in the Premier League, so it is likely that we will see goals at either end.
Pick: Over 2.5 goals @2.05 (pinnacle, 6 units)
Aston Villa 6 - 4 Blackburn
